over the course of pre-history, humans with genes that promoted fat/energy retention rather than loss were more likely to survive and breed. Post-modern human society has flipped this however, since our disconnection from the hunt-or-starve system to the sedentary lifestyle most are accustomed to removed the need to be able to store energy for later use and but the biological hardcoding remained. Evolution is a never-ending process however and as the element of “skinny = attractive” reigns, eventually over perhaps a period as impossibly short as thousands of years, genes promoting energy retention will be bred out largely. Anyways, thats maybe possibly not for sure why it’s easier to gain weight than to lose it.
